As part of the Huesna dam spillway conditioning project (Seville), PYG is carrying out a preliminary study of the surrounding fauna, focusing on two key groups – nesting birds and aquatic fauna – with the aim of guaranteeing the correct protection of the natural environment prior to the start of the works.

A preventive study to protect biodiversity

The field work is to identify the presence of nesting protected species (especially imperial eagles and black vultures), as well as to evaluate the aquatic faunal composition (fish and amphibians) in the watercourses near the spillway.

This type of preliminary studies is essential to adapt construction works to legal and environmental requirements, minimizing impacts and ensuring compatibility between infrastructure development and biodiversity conservation.

To carry out the work, a study area is proposed consisting of a 2 km envelope over the works area of the Huesna dam. The work will be carried out by means of transects on foot and by vehicle, covering the areas of action and nearby forest areas.

At PYG, we take on each project with a strong commitment to biodiversity protection and regulatory compliance.
